NoIndex can be stored as a so-called meta tag in the source code of an Internet page. Search engines understand this tag as a request not to index this page for the search results. Thus, a page with a NoIndex tag does not appear in Google search results.
If you want to have whole directories of the website not crawled by bots, this can be solved via the robots.txt. This also allows you to optimize the crawl budget.
